Being in a different environment also keeps things fresh and exciting.

What’s the best thing about going on tour with the company?
Touring has allowed me to explore and appreciate different places that I probably wouldn’t have had the chance to visit. Being in a different environment also keeps things fresh and exciting. The coach ride also allows me to catch up on The Real Housewives.

What’s your favourite movie?
My favourite movie is Moulin Rouge directed by Baz Luhrmann. I love a number of Baz Luhrmann films, probably because of their flamboyant flare and heightened sense of reality.

What does ‘home’ mean to you?
From the age of fourteen I have lived away from home and having recently lived in the USA for four years, family is most definitely home for me.

What do you like to do on your days off?
This varies depending on my work schedule. I always try to make the most of my days off and head out of the apartment. I also enjoy relaxing into other interests such as painting or picking up new crafts.

What’s your favourite place in Scotland?
I still have so much of Scotland to explore having only moved here in July 2022. I love the outdoors and immersing myself into the history of other cultures. So, what better place to be than Scotland for its rich culture and natural beauty.

What career moment are you most proud of?
Joining Scottish Ballet.

What’s your favourite ballet to perform?
I have two favourite ballets I’ve performed. Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs and Kenneth Macmillan’s brightly coloured Elite Syncopations. Full of a succession of rags, cakewalks and slow drags which demand virtuosity and a comic flair, Elite Syncopations is definitely a lot of fun.

What’s something people might not know about you?
Although I go by Harvey, my first name is actually Urbane. It’s a family tradition from my dad’s side that the name is given to every new-born boy in the family. Supposedly the meaning of the name is to be ‘courteous and refined in manner’… perhaps not how I would be described by my friends and family at times.

Performing Nine Sinatra Songs by Twyla Tharp. The ballet is performed and danced by seven couples, with each portraying a different stage of a romantic relationship. Within this piece, ballroom dancing is incorporated into the choreography which was a fun challenge as it is not a style of dance I have had the opportunity to perform before. The beautiful choreography is set to songs sung by Frank Sinatra, making this piece a joy to dance!
