Scottish Ballet and YDance are offering young choreographers a chance to explore and develop their creative voices in Hothouse.

Hothouse is a FREE choreographic training programme for dancers aged 14 – 21. The programme is run by YDance in partnership with Scottish Ballet and regional partners in Edinburgh, Dundee, and Aberdeen. Hothouse is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of choreographers from or living in Scotland.

Hothouse will help you develop by:

  • Developing your choreographic skills and knowledge
  • Introducing you to positive role models within the industry
  • Encouraging your own independent creative voice and unique style
  • Supporting you as young emerging artist to create a piece for performance (Level 2 – IGNITE only)

Hothouse involves two levels:

Level 1 – SPARK

An inspirational day where young people aged 14 – 21 can develop their knowledge and choreographic skills.

Two participants from each regional Level 1 - SPARK will be selected to move on to Level 2 - IGNITE.

Level 2 – IGNITE

Level 2 supports young choreographers selected from Level 1 to develop a new work for performance. Through a programme of skills development weekends and mentoring, participants will gain knowledge and confidence to develop their own work, in their community, mentored by staff from YDance and Scottish Ballet.
