In 2015 Scottish Ballet launched a performance company for elder community dancers, Scottish Ballet Elders' Company (SBEC).

For their first production SBEC worked with choreographer Winifred Jamieson to create a piece, Words Unspoken, which was performed at Dance Base during the 2015 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and then toured to Inverness, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow as part of the Luminate Festival in October. They did this in partnership with Dance Base’s group, PRIME.

"Challenging, inspirational... undoubtedly, it was been an enrichment to my life."

In February 2016 choreographer, and current Artist in Residence at BBC Radio 2, Tommy Small then created a contrasting piece on the group for the 2016 Go Dance platform at the Theatre Royal.

The group is growing from strength to strength and it’s next public performance will be announced shortly…
