MC 14/22 (Ceci est mon corps) & Sibilo

A contemporary double bill showcasing radically contrasting dance styles, equally compelling in emotional impact.

This cutting edge duo of works will mark Scottish Ballet's Linbury Theatre debut at the Royal Opera House London, followed by performances in New York, with more details announced in winter 2019.

Sibilo demonstrates Sophie Laplane's joyful and unrestricted style, with inspiration from everyday emotions and situations, celebrating the power and versatility of dancers' bodies and movement.

A US premiere, Angelin Preljoçaj’s MC 14/22 (Ceci est mon corps) is a meeting of the spiritual and the carnal. This powerful and passionate work is a hymn to the male body, stripped down to its deepest reality, juxtaposing the glorification of strength and the condemnation of force.

Tickets for performances at the Linbury Theatre on sale to Friends 18 December 2019, on sale to general public 29 January 2020.

Sibilo

Sophie Laplane’s singular style mixes humour with inspiration from everyday emotions and situations. With original music by Alex Menzies aka Alex Smoke, Sibilo demonstrates Laplane’s joyful and unrestricted style in a celebration of the power and versatility of dancers’ bodies and of movement in all its forms.

★★★★★ ‘Quirky, angular moves performed by four couples with wit and sensuality meet clever costuming that literally flies off the stage'

The Scotsman
Sibilo

Sibilo is being presented in London and New York thanks to the generous support of Sir Sandy & Lady Crombie.

MC 14/22 (Ceci est mon corps)

MC 14/22 is a meeting of the spiritual and the carnal, drawing on St Mark’s version of The Last Supper in the Bible: ‘Take, eat: this is my body’. Created for twelve male dancers, Preljocaj’s ‘Apostles of Movement’, and with soundscapes by Tedd Zahmal, this powerfully sensual and passionate work is a hymn to the male body, stripped down to its deepest reality, juxtaposing the glorification of strength and the condemnation of force.

★★★★★ ‘On an intellectual level, the dancers represent the 12 apostles. On a purely visual level, this is a celebration and exploration of the male form, performed with authority and an astonishing level of control.'
