The Nutcracker was last performed in winter 2017/18. For current productions, visit our What's On page.

Dancing snowflakes, toy soldiers and the Sugar Plum Fairy come to life in this magical family classic.

Costumes plucked from the most gorgeous chocolate box; Tchaikovsky’s score to transport you to a land of dreams; and a story lifted straight from the pages of a classic fairy tale.

This winter, banish the dark skies – and transport your whole family into the world of the Nutcracker Prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Experience a fantastical adventure with a little girl called Clara, as she drifts off to sleep on Christmas Eve. She meets her Prince, is confronted by a battle of larger-than-life mice and rats, and is whisked into the luscious land of sweets – it even snows on stage!

Accompanied by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra, this is classical ballet at its most plush and sumptuous. Devised in 1973 by the Company’s founding artistic director, The Nutcracker was revived to widespread acclaim in 2014.

Running time: The performance lasts approximately 2 hours, including one 20 minute interval.
