Sadler's Wells presents Dance: Sampled at The Lowry

'A wonderful showcase of dance diversity.'

Time Out

A celebration of dance in all its forms, showcasing the very best of international dance talent in enticing bite-size performances.

Scottish Ballet is teaming up with The Lowry and Sadler's Wells to take part in a day jam-packed full of dance activities for all ages.

Alongside two duets performed by Scottish Ballet - One from Sophie Laplane's Sibilo and one from Peter Darrell's The Nutcracker - catch a brilliant and diverse range of short performances including Spain's biggest name in flamenco dancers, a juggling circus dance troupe and an African-infused explosion of colour and dance.

Scottish Ballet's Choreographer in Residence, Sophie Laplane’s singular style mixes humour with inspiration from everyday emotions and situations.

With original music by Alex Menzies aka Alex Smoke, Sibilo demonstrates Laplane’s joyful and unrestricted style in a celebration of the power and versatility of dancers’ bodies and of movement in all its forms.

An excerpt of the work will be performed in Dance: Sampled.

Choreographed by Scottish Ballet's founder Peter Darrell in 1973 and lovingly revived to widespread acclaim in 2014, The Nutcracker has become a festive favourite that is cherished by all.

With costumes plucked from the most gorgeous chocolate box, transport your whole family into the world of the Nutcracker Prince and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

A pas de deux (duet) from this production will be performed in Dance: Sampled.
