Five dancers from our Youth Exchange Programme will be heading across the pond next week!

During the six day visit to New York City, participants will work with MOVE|NYC|, exchanging ideas and practices in the studio, led by Co-Founders and Artistic Directors Chanel DaSilva and Nigel Campbell.

Alongside the activities in the studio, Chanel and Nigel will lead a careers management seminar plus a panel discussion with dancers from Gibney Dance, MOVE|NYC|'s parent company. This will focus on their 'Ladder Series' of talks from established dancers with the moto of 'Once you’ve climbed the professional ladder it’s important to reach back and give others a hand up'.

During the sharing of their week’s work in New York City, Youth Exchange 18/19 participant William Currie (recipient of the John Mather Trust Rising Star award) will perform a solo inspired by the contemporary double bill This is My Body.... William has worked over a six-week period with mentor and SB Soloist Thomas Edwards to choreograph the work.

Participants will also attend the opening night of This is My Body... at The Joyce Theatre, get the opportunity to take part in a class at Broadway Dance Centre, and experience New York with their American counterparts.
