We are delighted to announce that the company will be making a long-awaited return to stage and screen this Autumn, as tickets for the full Scottish tour of Starstruck go on sale from today.
Dig out your most glamorous gowns and brush off those dapper suits – we’re excited to present a night that is worth dressing up for as we lovingly revive and give a new set of wings to Gene Kelly's Pas de Dieux.
In collaboration with Kelly’s widow, Patricia Ward Kelly, Scottish Ballet’s CEO/Artistic Director Christopher Hampson and designer Lez Brotherston present the UK premiere of Starstruck, Gene Kelly's love letter to ballet.
The performance is set to Gershwin’s effortlessly cool Concerto in F, with extracts from Chopin, recorded by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra. We promise, Starstruck is exactly the evening of entertainment you’ve been longing for.
Scottish tour dates
We can't wait to be back on the stages of:
Theatre Royal Glasgow (23–25 September)
Eden Court, Inverness (30 September-2 October)
His Majesty's Theatre, Aberdeen (7-9 October)
Festival Theatre, Edinburgh (14-16 October).
The running time of the show is one hour, with no interval.
Starstruck on screen
Not nearby, or not quite ready to return to the theatre yet? Don’t worry – you can still experience the magic of Starstruck. Following the tour this Autumn, Starstruck will have its world premiere on screen as our second feature-length film.
Inspired by Gene Kelly’s iconic work in Hollywood, Starstruck will combine live performance capture with cinematic filming techniques to create an immersive, theatrical experience that will allow audiences around the world to escape to the glamour and grace of Paris, 1960.
Directed for screen by Oscar Sansom (Dive), in partnership with Forest of Black (The Secret Theatre), Starstruck will be released in partnership with Marquee TV, receiving its world premiere on Friday 26 November and available on demand until 5 December 2021. Tickets will go on sale in October 2021.
Be part of the magic
Don’t forget, you can play an important role in Starstruck by donating to our ‘Fit for the Gods’ Costume Appeal. Donations will support the creation of nearly 100 stunning new costumes, reimagined by Tony and Olivier award-winning designer Lez Brotherston and brought to life on stage by Kelly’s energetic choreography. After a year and a half without box office income, your support is vital in helping us return to touring.
