We're launching new online ballet classes to enjoy from your home!

Whether you’re brand new to ballet, or keen to practise and perfect your technique, we're here to keep you fit and motivated this winter.

These live, interactive classes will take place on Zoom and can be booked as 7-week courses, starting from 2 November. 

The courses will be taught by Scottish Ballet dancers and experienced teachers. We expect these classes to be popular, so make sure you’re ready to book when they go on sale on 23 October. In order to book, you’ll need to join our new free membership programme

Adult Absolute Beginners Ballet

You will learn the absolute basics of classical ballet technique: gently building vocabulary and knowledge, confidence and co-ordination. Suitable for those with no previous ballet experience, this class will be taught by a Scottish Ballet dancer. 

Wednesdays 6.30 - 7.30pm (GMT)
£77 per block (£11 per class)

Adult Beginners Ballet

These classes will go over the fundamentals of ballet before developing and building on your technique and exercises. Recommended if you have some previous ballet experience and knowledge of basic ballet positions but would still consider yourself a beginner, there will be two classes taught by Scottish Ballet dancers.

Thursdays 6.30 - 7.30pm / 7.45 - 8.45pm.(GMT)

Adult Improvers Ballet

Building on the basics, this class will improve your technique and vocabulary, increase confidence and develop your musicality and artistry. Recommended if you have completed at least two years of Beginners Ballet, and  have a good grasp of ballet technique, this class will be taught by a Scottish Ballet  dancer. 

Wednesdays 7.45 - 8.45pm (GMT)
£77 per block (£11 per class)


Are you over 60 and love to dance? This is the class for you! Suitable for all levels these classes exercise the mind and body, building your strength, technique and creative movement. There will be two classes, both taught by Preston Clare.

Thursdays, 10am - 11am / 11.15 - 12.15 pm (GMT)
£52.50 per block (£7.50 per class)

SB Young Dancers – 10-14 years

If you are aged 10-14, and have previous ballet experience and a grasp of ballet technique, this class is for you. You’ll learn to improve technique while exploring your creativity, inspired by Scottish Ballet repertoire. And taught by a Scottish Ballet Principal dancer.

Tuesdays 5 - 6pm (GMT)
£77 per block (£11 per class)

Ballet Live! – Improvers/Intermediate

This is your chance to practise with a Scottish Ballet Principal dancer! By joining this live stream, you’ll develop technique, co-ordination and rhythm, using barre and centre work to build strength and knowledge. Recommended if you have strong ballet technique and at least 2-3 years ballet experience.

Tuesdays 6.15 - 7.15 pm (GMT)
£77 per block (£11 per class)

Booking information

To book our classes, you’ll first need to join our free membership programme. Make sure you’ve signed up by 6pm on 22 October to receive the booking links. Classes will go on sale to members at 10am on 23 October. You’ll need to book the full 7-week course. Bookings will be on a first come, first served basis and limited spaces are available to ensure participants receive personal feedback from the teachers.

Please note, apart from our SB Young Dancers course, our Zoom classes are for those aged 16 and over. SB Young Dancers must have adult consent and supervision while taking part. 


SB Health Classes

We're also excited to be announcing a new 6-week block of Elevate© and Time to Dance classes on Zoom. 

These interactive, live classes are especially designed for people living with MS and dementia, and can be enjoyed alone or with a family member, companion or carer.  Each session will be delivered by SB Health artists and accompanied by live music, offering you a variety of ways to connect with Scottish Ballet repertoire.

The classes will go on sale on 23 October and launch on 9 November for six weeks.

Our Dance for Parkinson’s Scotland classes, run in partnership with Dance Base, will continue to be streamed via our Dance for Parkinson’s Facebook page on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week.

There are lots of SB Health resources to try at home. You can find our Health at Hand videos on our website and YouTube channel. Initially created for NHS & Social Care staff, these 10-minute movement and breath sessions are designed to support physical and emotional wellbeing, accompanied by specially recorded music.
