We’re honoured to have received The Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Best Dance Film, for The Secret Theatre.

Our first feature film, The Secret Theatre, premiered in December 2020 as an uplifting nod to the thing we were (and still are) missing most – live performance. The Christmas special featured characters, choreography, and music from our popular festive repertoire including The Snow Queen and The Nutcracker, taking viewers on a journey through the eyes of a young boy as he stumbles across an empty theatre, ready to burst into life.

In an online awards ceremony on Sunday, CEO/Artistic Director and The Secret Theatre’s Creative Director Christopher Hampson made an acceptance speech, crediting his collaborators Lez Brotherston (Co-Creative Director, Set and Costume Designer), Screen Directors Jess and Morgs, and production partner Forest of Black, and acknowledging the value of recognition from The Critics’ Circle in this category.
