Good news! Scottish Ballet is a face of the European Championships 2018. 'But what does that mean?' we hear you ask.

We're fortunate to have secured £42,000 from the Glasgow 2018 European Championships Festival fund to deliver an inter-generational dance festival reaching community dancers from across the country in Tramway in July 2018.

Glasgow 2018 – the biggest sporting event to take place in Scotland since the best ever Commonwealth Games – will unite sport and culture throughout the Championships from 2 - 12 August 2018.

We will partner with Tramway, YDance and the Glasgow Twinning Office who are sending young people from Turin, Marseille and Nuremberg to participate in the festival. Elder and youth dance groups from Europe and across the UK will also engage with the festival weekend.

This event will be Scottish Ballet’s most significant contribution to Scotland’s Year of the Young Person.

“Glasgow 2018 will bring the best of Europe’s athletes to Glasgow and Scotland and Festival 2018 will bring everyone – visitors and residents together – in one large-scale celebration of our culture and famous warm welcome.”
