Spring 07 Season
Scottish Ballet will tour to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen in April 2007 with an exciting programme of works showcasing the versatility of this talented, award-winning company.
Agon is a seminal masterpiece by New York City Ballet’s founder George Balanchine. This sensual work tests both the physical and expressive limits of classical ballet and is set to Stravinsky’s celebrated score..
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the death of Scottish Ballet’s founder, Peter Darrell, the Company will revive his 1971 work Othello. Presenting Shakespeare’s epic tragedy as a powerful and dramatic one-act ballet set to Liszt’s Faust Symphony.
Ashley Page’s Olivier Award-nominated Room of Cooks, inspired by the painting of the same name by Stephen Chambers, is a masterfully compressed dance drama; a mysterious domestic scene crackling with claustrophobic sexual tension.
Krzysztof Pastor’s colour-saturated In Light & Shadow fuses the elegance of Bach’s orchestral suites with speedy, flirtatious dancing making for a life-enhancing finale.
Live music from the Scottish Ballet Orchestra.
