The 2007 Peter Darrell Choreographic Award with Scottish Dance Theatre and Scottish Ballet

In this glorious evening of dance, we celebrate the life and work of the late Peter Darrell, founder of Scottish Ballet. Scottish Dance Theatre presents new work by Award-winner Vanessa Haska and Scottish Ballet performs Chasing Ghosts by Award-winner Diana Loosmore. The Peter Darrell Choreographic Award is supported by the Scottish Arts Council National Lottery Fund.

Press for Chasing Ghosts

"Rhythmic and fluid, this was a hypnotic piece... uplifting." - Perthshire Advertiser

"Loosmore proved she was more than worthy of the prize. Having seven of Scottish Ballet's most interesting dancers at her disposal didn't hurt, of course. Between them, they gave Loosmore's choreography a cool, sophisticated edge." - The Herald

"This somewhat otherworldly atmosphere was also heightened by Morag McKerrell's imaginative costume designs and the shadowed and reflected movements of the dancers as they silently haunted the stage." - St Andrews Citizen

"An enthusiastic visual feast" - Dance Expression

"See it and believe in magic" - The Extra

CHASING GHOSTS

Scottish Ballet’s Diana Loosmore presents Chasing Ghosts, her second choreographic work for the Company. Set to Ian Simmonds’ pulsating score, the seven dancers make contact, movements are shadowed and reflected, leaving traces as the pursuit develops.

Chasing Ghosts is a fascinating study of human relationships, hypnotic, luminous and spectral, with stunning lighting and costumes galvanising the piece with a ghostly, metallic shimmer.
