Highland Fling: Hong Kong Arts Festival
Scottish Ballet is taking its award-winning Highland Fling to Hong Kong Arts Festival for an exclusive Asian premiere.
Highland Fling is a ‘romantic wee ballet’ originally produced in 1994 by Olivier Award winner Matthew Bourne.
Where Bournonvile’s 1832 setting was misty highlands and glens, this new version of La Sylphide takes place in a gritty, modern-day Scotland. Pleasure-seeking, newly married James finds himself drawn to an unearthly temptress. Infatuation becomes obsession, and the start of a journey from Glasgow’s mean streets and nightclubs to a magical world beyond reality and reason.
“This is one of the funniest, funkiest, most irresistibly infectious ballets I have ever had the delight to sit through.”
Running time 1h 25mins (inc 20min interval)
Suitable for age 12+ (contains adult themes)
