Who we are
Scottish Ballet is Scotland’s national dance company. Founded by Peter Darrell and Elizabeth West as Western Theatre Ballet in Bristol in 1957, the Company moved to Glasgow in 1969 and was renamed Scottish Ballet. The Company employs 36 full-time dancers. In June 2009, it moved to new purpose-built national headquarters at the Tramway international arts centre in Glasgow following an impressive fundraising campaign and building project.
Take a look at our recent behind-the-scenes rehearsal film featuring Christopher Hampson, Artistic Director, with Hope Muir, Rehearsal Director, as they work with Scottish Ballet dancers in preparation for the Company's spring 2014 tour of Krzysztof Pastor's Romeo & Juliet.
