Forty Winks is the perfect way for families to discover the magic of ballet - follow our fairies into the dream world of The Sleeping Beauty.
Suitable for boys and girls aged 3 and up, Forty Winks offers an exciting introduction to ballet, featuring practical workshops and two very special events in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Participants will can unlock the magic of the ballet’s story through specially created online resources in the run up to the performance.
These interactive events are ideal for children and families trying ballet for the first time – let Scottish Ballet cast a spell on you!

Forty Winks - Glasgow
In Glasgow, Forty Winks features a special dress rehearsal of the prologue from The Sleeping Beauty on Saturday 17th December. During this 30-minute performance, you will find out about the good fairies of the enchanted forest and the evil curse cast by wicked fairy Carabosse.
Performance booking details
The special prologue performance will take place at Theatre Royal, Glasgow, on Saturday 17th December at 1.45pm.
Tickets for the performance only cost £6 and can be booked through Theatre Royal's box office on 0844 871 7647.
Workshops
Multiple workshops are being held for each age group to ensure you have the best chance of a place in the class. Participants only need to take part in one workshop - pick a time which best suits you! Please note that workshops take place in the Education Centre at Scottish Ballet - getting to Scottish Ballet.

Workshop booking details
Tickets for the workshop and the performance cost £12 - please note that workshops cannot be booked seperately. The capacity for all workshops is 16, with the exception of the parent and toddler which can accommodate 12 pairs ie 12 toddlers with a parent/carer.

Treasure trail with National Museum of Scotland
From Saturday 17th December, you can follow a special treasure trail through the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh to discover objects linked to our fairytale production. Booking information will be available soon.
Forty Winks - Edinburgh
In Edinburgh, Forty Winks offers families the chance to watch a special Scottish Ballet broadcast filmed backstage at Festival Theatre. The screening, which takes place on Saturday 14th January, will be followed by a talk on the production and the chance to meet one of the dancers.
Treasure trail and backstage broadcast
The treasure trail takes place at the National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh, from Saturday 17th December. Booking information will be available soon.
The backstage broadcast will be screened at the National Museum of Scotland from on Saturday 14th January, time tbc.
