Tramway Fundraisers

14 March 2008

Scottish Ballet’s Tramway Appeal is steaming ahead with £560,000 still to raise – when we reach our goal, the grand total secured for the project will be £11 million.

The Appeal will help fund a new home for Scottish Ballet in Glasgow’s Southside, next to the existing Tramway arts venue and NVA project, The Hidden Garden. The local community, Scotland and the UK will feel the benefits of this multi-arts production and presentation centre. You can find out more about the Appeal at www.movewithus.org.uk.

So it is hugely encouraging to hear that community groups are getting involved in fun ways. This weekend (Friday 14th – Sunday 15th), pupils of Mary Robson School of Dance and Yvonne Grey Dance School will perform That’s Dance to make their contribution to the Appeal. The performances will see nearly 200 young dancers aged 3 to 19 years old at Blyth Hall in Newport present a mixture of dance styles, including ballet, jazz and tap. For those in the area, tickets available from Wormitt Stores and Tayport Chemists. We wish the dancers a smashing time, and we’re sure they will entertain the audiences in style for this truly worthwhile cause!
