Over the past year, Scottish Ballet, English National Ballet and National Dance Company Wales collaborated on Dancing Parallel, a national dance film and performance project for young people aged 14–18 taking place in Aberdeen, London and Cardiff. Over the past year, young people from these three cities explored the worlds of dance and parkour, and through daily practical sessions, had the opportunity to create their own work incorporating the contrasting genres of contemporary dance, ballet and parkour.
In April 2012, dance filmmaker Nic Sandiland created a work drawing together site-specific performances by the participants and exploring the contrasting environments of their cities. The film will be screened at all performances of Dance GB by Scottish Ballet, English National Ballet and National Dance Company Wales.
