Scottish Ballet's The Sleeping Beauty

The Sleeping Beauty was created in 2007 by Ashley Page, with designs by Antony McDonald.

The Sleeping Beauty begins with the King and Queen desperately wanting a baby. Princess Aurora is born and the whole Kingdom celebrates but life is not to stay as happy as the bad fairy Carabosse arrives at the christening unvited. As the fairies give Aurora wonderful gifts, Carabosse puts a curse on her, that on her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger and die. The Lilac Fairy manages to soften the curse so Aurora will sleep for 100 years instead.

On her 16th birthday, Aurora does prick her finger, and the kingdom falls into an enchanted sleep, waiting on a handsome prince to find Aurora and break the spell with true love's kiss.
