| Developing a Motif |
Developing a motif with a partnerFace your partner Sway from side to side, shifting weight mirroring your partner. Dancer A begins with a small gesture on one body part. Dancer B mirrors dancer A. Each time the sway movement returns to the right, Dancer A changes the movement to become larger, smaller, more defined, using a different body part, quality or speed. By the end of task the dancers should have a number of variation of motifs.
Motifs present in 32 Cryptograms include lift, attitude and developpé.
Developing a sequence from a motif in a simple cannonFace your partner Dancer A begins with one of the motifs developed in the previous task over counts 1-4. Dancer B mirrors dancer A but over counts 4-8 so there is a space in timing. Dancer A repeats the first motif and then adds on another. Dancer B continues to mirror but always 8 counts behind. Repeat the actions so there are 8 motif developments performed in cannon.
